The wild is inside us

... or when the August Reese's Book Club Pick is The Wild Beneath

Hi everyone,

It’s Tuesday afternoon — a little later than I usually write to you.

It’s August 4th 2026, and once upon a time I started writing a story about a tidal wave that disintegrated everything, leaving one woman to rebuild her life and find herself again amidst the noise around her.

Somehow, today, this story is in our physical hands.

I’m writing you from the airport surrounded by my family on the way to New York City to celebrate something I never imagined could happen in our lives. Not only does this novel publish today, but I also get to sit on a stage tonight with Andrea Bartz and Ashley Jordan at the Reese’s Book Club STORYfest to introduce it to the world.

It’s unbelievable (is there a word that actually captures it?) that The Wild Beneath is the August pick for Reese. To me, it’s proof that we have the power to make anything we want if we keep showing up.

A special thank you today to my family who are always buoying me (Mathieu, Logan and Leo. My parents, Ian and Carol Anderson, my sister Lynn and her husband Craig, their kids Avery Rylie and Jack, and the entire Poulin family. And, of course, our dog Sammy). To the women who carry me in calm and rough waters (you know who you are). To my incredible agent Maddy Milburn and her team, my exceptional editors (especially Annie Chagnot and Iris Tupholme) and everyone on my publishing teams who truly made all of this happen.
